คำอธิบาย (Description)

Teaching methods with modern technology have significantly increased in laboratory skills training over the past decade. [1]. Today, videos are widely used for supporting and stimulating student comprehension in various contexts: in the classroom, in the laboratory and in distance education [2–3]. However, there is little evidence on the efficacy of video-based method to support laboratory or practical learning skill of students. In this regard, ABO blood group testing is one of the most important laboratory skills to determine the blood type of patients. A mistake in ABO blood test can be very dangerous, because if a medical technologist gives the wrong type of donor blood, it can be fatal. The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness between video-based method and conventional lecture-based method in the development of medical technology students’ practical learning skill via performing standard ABO blood typing. The students’ basic knowledge about the ABO blood testing before training was obtained using online question creator: KAHOOT in order to compare the results with those obtained after the training. Then, the groups have been trained using video-based method and lecture based method before performing blood test of unknown samples. Formative assessment was collected by direct observing and checklist of blood group testing was used to assess students’ performance skills.
